This feature
allows users to define how instruments will appear to study
participants during data collection. The Arm/Assessment Details
page contains a list of instruments designated for the study (from
the Study Content page).
Arm/Assessment
Details enables instruments to be grouped into Blocks. It also
allows users to define whether instruments or instrument blocks
should be administered in a fixed order or randomly.

Instruments
are often grouped because they have similar content or because the
instruments within that group should be administered to
participants in a random order reducing ordering
effect.
Users may
indicate instruments that should not be included in an individual
assessment and instruments that should be included but are not to
be administered to a participant, e.g. clinical form to be
completed by medical staff. Using the Administer drop list,
users may also specify
whether or not the system should check if an item has already been
administered in an assessment and if that is the case, not
administer the item on a subsequent instrument within the same
arm/assessment.

If the No
Duplicates engine is used to eliminate the administration of
duplicate items, each item will still appear in the data exports.
The score of the response provided by the participant when the
first item was administered will be stored as the score for both
items in the data exports.

The No
Duplicates option will not be available within the Administer
column for items with a type of Item Bank/CAT (Computerized
Adaptive Testing) or if a Short Form item has been assigned the
Administration Method of Branch from the Instrument Customization
page.
Currently,
there is no way to copy the Arm/Assessment Details page.
Therefore, if you will be defining instrument administration
using Arm/Assessment Details, you must complete the page for
each arm/assessment.

If each
arm/assessment is intended to have the same details, the easiest
way to ensure the Arm/Assessment Details page is filled out
accurately is to print a screenshot of the initial Arm/Assessment
Details page and use it as a guide when completing the remaining
pages.
